After the updated version about 2 months ago, and some testing, it seems to work good with DC power, yet not that good (not at all) with AC power. I tried several different setups with different capacitors and found the solution. I was confident enough to order it with most components assembled on it ☺️
It looks awesome! Yet more important, it works straight away. The used IC is rated to ≥ 40 volt DC. The capacitor (placed next to the switch header) I have is rated at 35V, so more than enough for most doorbell systems. Once used for a DC system, this mentioned capacitor isn’t needed, as it’s only used for smoothing the AC voltage.
Everything is working without an additional power supply, the esp (Wemos D1 mini) is powered via the integrated buck converter:
And yeah, I bought a transformer, a bell and a button only for testing purpose 😂

At this moment, it works with a classic “ring” bell, but not with my “ding-dong” bell. I guess that draws too much current and makes the esp go brown-out. I am testing it with some extra capacitors though.

I just did some final testing and found the cause of not working as I wanted it. I’ve redesigned the pcb and ordered them. Probably will be mid April in my store. Price will be around 15 euro excluding shipping.
